Where should I go for Laborday Weekend out of New Orleans, Louisiana?

Question

I live in New Orleans, Louisiana, and I intend to go out of town for labor-day weekend.

I was curious to know if there is any destinations that I can drive to (less than 5 hours preferably), and have some fun stuff to do without counting on good weather.

Please help me out!

Go out of state, go north u can go to arkansas,  were u can dig up diamands and keep them.  here is the website.  http://www.craterofdiamondsstatepark.com...  but u will have to hurry to get a hotel room.  it is only 450 miles from New Orleans.

well then go north...just in case you haven't been watching the weather there will be a hurricane hitting somewhere in the south in a few days...so it you do go on vacation take all your pictures and important papers with you just in case!!!
