Where should I go for college?

I'm only a sophomore in high school, but I wanted to attend UCLA to study film. My parents are paying for my college, but they want me to go to Canada because I was born there.

I was talking to my therapist and she said it's cheaper to go to colleges in California if you live there for a certain amount of time.

Is that true? If so, how much cheaper?

  1. Every state in the US has a lower tuition for residents when attending a state (public) school in their own state.  But colleges are very strict on this residency policy.  It's usually two years and you need to show proof  that you live there.
