Where should I go for my honeymoon in June?

We want to spend about $2,000 including airfare. We definately want to go somewhere tropical but not too touristy. I've looked into the Jungle Bay Resort in Dominica and that looks amazing, the only thing is I read that you can't swim at the beach there because the water is too rough. My fiance LOVES swimming at the beach. We would love to stay in a bungalow over the water but that is way too expensive. But we are looking for something that is right by the beach. Also somewhere there are lots of activities like jet skiing, parasailing, ATV riding... etc. It would be great to stay somewhere all-inclusive, but those tend to be very touristy which is not what we want. Also another thing is that we want the room to look nice (not just an ugly white box with a bed inside)... interior decor is an important deciding factor for whether we will stay at a certain place. We are very picky but with a tight budget which is not a good combination and I'm having a difficult time finding something.

  1. Mexico, the Caribean, your options are endless. Plus, there are a lot of websites that offer luxury trips for bargain prices, or aunction prices even! Start hunting now, if you book & reserve earlier, you're bound to spend waay less and save more :)

  2. It would be difficult to find a place that would just cost $2000 including airfare for all of the activities you want to do.  Have you thought about registering for your honeymoon?

Signing up for a honeymoon registry is one of the latest wedding trends. Friends and relatives can buy portions of your dream honeymoon as a wedding gift. Many engaged couples are finding this to be a practical alternative to gifts they do not need and will not use.

  3. Hi,

Not sure how much it costs from America as I'm English but we're getting married/having our honeymoon in Mexico at the Moon Palace Golf & Spa resort. Rooms all have a double jacuzzi, lots of activities available and fairly set apart from the touristy part of Cancun. It is based right on the beach and offers scuba diving as well as swimming with dolphins. There are several Palace resorts so check them out and see how much they are from America (I presume it's cheaper than from here as it's nearer lol).

Whatever you decide, congratulations on the wedding, I hope you have a fabulous wedding/honeymoon and a long lasting marriage :)

  4. If I were you, I'd look into somewhere in Florida on the gulf of Mexico.  The water is nice and calm and you should have good luck in finding a place within your budget.  We stayed at a Bed and Breakfast on Anna Maria Island years ago and it was nice and quiet, not very touristy, and had activities like you described nearby.
