There is three place I can pick from in mexico. Mazatlan, puerto Vallarta or San Carlos, Sonora. I want to go to a place where there is a lot of history to it and Ancient Ruins. I only have three days and two nights there. So I want to make this a trip to remember. Any ideas. I would like to here stories if you have been to these places before.

  1. I went to Puerto Vallarta and loved it, it has all the best hotels and a beautiful small town that keeps the place very traditional.

It has lots of restaurants and bars but the area where the hotels are located is pretty calm however, there are no ruins.

For ruins you should go to Mexico City, Tulum (near Cancun) or to Oaxaca, which is  a beautiful colonial city with lots of history.

  2. Mazatlan

  3. I don't know that I can help, I've been to Puerto Vallarta, but stayed at an all inclusive place.  We took a tour and went to dinner in town once and from what I saw, there is some history there I just can't say how much. We visited a Blue Agave Tequila Still and that was interesting.  I would go back in a heartbeat. Its a beautiful city that has wonderful people. Have fun where ever you go!

  4. The three places you mention are not that old by Mexico Standards so there is not a lot of history nor are there any Ancient Ruins in or near the places you mention. All three are popular beach destinations. To see the Colonial Cities or Ancient Archelogical sites you will have to travel further into Mexico.Given your three choices I would think there is more for you to see and do in Matzatlan or Puerto Vallarta.

Have a great trip wherever you choose to go!

  5. Hello.

Mazatlán, Puerto Vallarta and San Carlos, the three of them are NOT close to ancient ruins, the three are modern touristic cities; Puerto Vallarta (the most southern of those three) old town (actually, the down town) is a tipical mexican town, very nice and the views are better than the others. Mazatlán is nice and modern, but not so "touristic", and San Carlos is too small (and it is in the desert, too far from tropical beaches).

The best for tourists is Puerto Vallarta, but no one has ancient ruins, those are more to the south.

Beachs and ancient ruins are in Cancún, on the other cost. Ruins without beach you can find around Mexico City.
