Where should I go on vacation to chill out for a month?

In late November this year, I'm looking for a place to chill out for a month. Ill most likely be going by myself, just to relax. I just want a place that isn't too crowded, has nice beaches, and is outside of the US. So far, I've come up with St. Thomas, Playa del Carmen, somewhere in Costa Rica. I need to find also find a place I can rent for a month, up to $800 for a month. Any suggestions? I kind of a want to go to a place where I can surf, but that isn't a requirement, just a plus. Thanks!

I'd like to mount a campaign to encourage people not to go anywhere. Travel has become so expensive and unpleasant that it's hard to understand why people don't stay home.

Why are we crowding our highways and airports to get someplace else? Newspapers and magazines are filled with ads trying to get us to travel. They want us to go somewhere - anywhere but home.
