I have two choices I can go to school, but I cant decide. Here is the pros and cons for each school [btw I'm going into high school]

school 1:

-fairly new [3 yrs] so will have better equipment

-has very good test scores

-I will be able to start new

-only a few of my friends are there

-is in walkable distance of the movies, food, etc.

-has a pool

-will be more independent [for reasons I don't wanna explain]

-I will be able to take photography [been looking forward to this for the past 2 years]

school 2:

-most of my friends are there

-not in walkable distance to any where

-new school so not as much equipment and they could have weird rules [such as no gum/flip flops etc.]

-don't know how good their teachers are [but they could be good]

-less independent

-wake up earlier

where would you go?

help opinions needed.

please and thank you.

  1. It seems that you are leaning more toward school #1, the only good thing about #2 is you get to be with your friends, according to you. I am a school counselor and would advise you to pick the school that fits you best. Sure it is important to have a healthy social life as well as an academic life, but you must set your priorities straight. Think about college and which high school would better provide you with a good education. Good luck.

  2. It sounds like you've already answered your own question.  The list for school 2 isn't very impressive and has only one definite pro (your friends).  Usually when we have a big decision to make and we ask for other people's advice, it's because we want reassurance about the decision we've already reached in ourselves.

You seem to already be really pumped up about going to the first school...and you're just afraid of leaving most of your friends behind.  Change is hard and often very scary, but few rewarding things in life happen without it.

If you have the good sense to make out a pros and cons list and ask advice online, you obviously put a lot of thought into your decisions and that means you're much less likely to make bad ones for yourself.  That's pretty rare and impressive in a teenager.  Good luck...you're going to be fine at a new school.
