Where should I go to get into Video Game Design?

I am 17 years old and looking to get into video game design for my future profession. I have experience with animation already, but i don't know where i should go after high school to pursue this.

Anybody have any idea what i should do?

  1. Video game design is a very vague term. If you want to design levels and stuff on a more graphic approach look for colleges that offer extensive degree programs in graphic design that incorporate computer science. If you want the hardcore stuff as far as designing software or making the actual video game program then engineering schools are the best choice. Schools like Rose-Hulman(very small, very private) and Harvey Mudd have great undergraduate programs specifically for engineering, math, and science (hard as h**l to get into). If you want the school with the graduate programs as well then most technical and polytechnicals have decent engineering departments You may want to try for a small school or the Holy Mother MIT. Also if your looking for the extreme specialty try DigiPen Institute it is a specialty that caters to young videogamers both artistic and technical (Tuition is extreme and no on campus housing, but they have great employment rates like hulman. They offer degrees in Real Time Interactive Simulation (Grand Theft Auto?). Hope I helped a little bit.
