Question:

Where should I go to learn Italian in Italy?

I want to learn Italian the REAL way – by living in Italy for a few weeks. I only speak English, and suck at languages, so I figure this will force me to learn it better (and quicker).

I need recommendations for schools/programs I can sign up for to learn in Italy. I don’t care where, and I’m not sure whether I should go through a University, boarding program, or private school. I need ideas/experiences/examples of places to go, because I have no idea where to start!

I’m planning on doing this next summer (late May 09) – should be a good time of year, not too hot, no?

  1. I have prepared a bit of a guide to some of the best places in Italy to learn Italian at. My wife is a teacher and she helped me to check out the schools. You can see our list of the top places here: http://www.my-italy-piedmont-marche-and-...

  2. You should definitely do Rome or Florence.

You can read more about different study abroad universities and the entire country of Italy here:

  3. FLORENCE!!

its the best city in italy! i went with my art class last year, we went to rome, florence, assissi (cutest town you should visit it!) and venice.

im not sure of any colleges but heres a link that may or may not help

i highly recommend trying to stay in florence its clean and really beautiful, rome is too but theres graffitI everywhere!! florence is just easier to get around and easier to remember where u last were

and i went may-june and i remember wearing sweaters, it wasnt hot at all it was perfect weather!

if u go you should try and see Assisi its a small town near spoleto (i think i spelt that right) but its really nice there!

    hope u have fun!

  4. Contact the nearest Italian Institute of Culture, or a chapter of Società Dante Alighieri to get info about language schools in Italy.

Furthermore in the city of Perugia there is the "University for Foreigners", devoted entirely to the teaching of Italian language and culture.
