We really fancy a camp site in a smart chalet / mobile home in the cote d'azur. ideally a swimming pool, kids club, on site facilities eg resturant, bar, shop perhaps. We will be hiring a car and want somewhere close'ish to the good sights of south of france... monaco, st tropez etc. Accomodation MUST have decent terrace / verandah for a chill out glass of wine when the kids are asleep.

never done this type of holiday before but package hols have ripped our parental patience for the last time!!

Anyone been anwhere like this? Anyone know anywhere? Any ideas or suggestions would be really appreciated.

We will be flying and hiring a car.

2 stressed parents, looking forward to something different this July!

Cheers

  1. I suggest that you look at the brochures and/or websites for the ready erected camping companies, eg. Canvas Holidays, Eurocamp, etc. They will give you an excellent idea of what is available BUT during the school holidays and in that area it is likely to be expensive. But these holidays provide all the facilities you are asking for and then some, especially for your children.  I must admit I have never used these companies but I have taken my touring caravan to sites which they use. Their mobile homes are excellent and more or less everything is provided, down to the last egg cup. These are not package holidays (I would never go on one) as you are free to do exactly as you wish; to take advantage of their leisure facilities or not. There is a good choice of sites in the south of France but get in soon as they tend to get booked up very quickly in the school holiday weeks.

  2. We go to Aix-en-Provence, but in July it can be sweltering!  Hope you get some more useful answers.

  3. hi

Try the gorges du tarn first.

Rodez from stanstead takes 1.25hrs. Small airport quick hire car then 1.00 hr and you're there.

Plenty of campsites and i think some have kids clubs.

2 hrs from the med by car but half the cost and less crowded than Cannes, Juin le pain or St tropez.

Traffic and costs in the Cote d'azure are murder in July and August.
