So next year I plan on having a suprise birthday party for my husband here in San Diego. The thing is I need a place that allows children (since I would like my kids to go) and that hopefully has a place that serves alchol. Also if anyone has any suggestions for a DJ and some one that caters good food

  2. Hi --

If you live in San Diego (you wrote "here in San Diego"), then you might check the special issue of the SD Union Tribune, entitled "Best of San Diego".  It was a supplement in the Friday (Aug. 1) newspaper.

As you know, San Diego offers a variety of choices.   The hotels and resorts in Mission Bay and Shelter Island have food and recreational options.   It depends on your budget, of course.

The hotels in Mission Valley (the Hanalei comes to mind, with its Hawaiian ambience) -- you will probably have to call around, but the economy is hurting and once tourist season ends, the local hotel and restaurants are more than willing to accomodate you.

I think it's so cool that you're surprising your husband.   Regardless of where it takes place, I know that I would be grateful and blessed for the memories.

Keep it simple.   Just focus on him and you'll be fine!
