  1. i hear corona cantina is more of a margarita bar with ok mexican food. not that there is anything wrong with that, and maybe that is what you want.  I kinda like salty igauna, or maybe manny's. tienda casa paloma is really great food, but maybe not the semi-formal atmosphere you want.

  2. If you want true authentic Mexican food...try La Fonda El Taquito on southwest boulevard.....none of the places mentioned by these folks are anywhere near authentic..this place is the real deal!!!

lol...a thumbs down for authenticity...lol....makes sense to me!!

  3. If you like really good Mexican food, you need to try Pancho's at 87th & I-35 in Lenexa/Overland Park.

It's just east of I-35 on Bluejacket, on the north side of the road.  It's next to Wendy's, by the BP/Amoco station.  I think the building used to be an old Chinese restaurant.  (They also have a restaurant on North main-not really a good area-and one in Blue Springs.)  I think the one on 87th & I-35 is the best one of them all.

It's THE best Mexican restaurant in the city-I used to love Jalapeno's and Margarita's, but now I would kill for one of Pancho's chimichungas.  I love the fact it's open 24 hours, the portions are huge and the horchata is a tasty, refreshing drink to accompany your meal.

Try it out.  I'm now living in South Dakota-where I was born & raised, but I lived in the metro for 8 years-and you wouldn't believe how much I miss Pancho's.  Whenever I visit, you can find me there, wishing we had one up here.

    Have a great birthday!

  4. Margaritas or Jalapeños are great Mexican restaurants!

Ponaks on the Boulevard is a Classic!
