Where should I live in Houston, Texas ?

is southwest Houston a nice area to live in .

I recently came from new york to texas and I been living with my uncle for a while , But i moved to richmond avenue ( near westhimer ) within 3 months i been here. But the person who i am living with is not letting me have any overnighters and he even disrespected my girlfriend by shutting the door hard behind her while she left the room . so this can't go on . I just wanna move in to a better area. any suggestions?

p.s: I work on highway six and little york ( around 10 minutes NORTH from I-10)

You don't say if you want a house so I'll guess you want to rent.

I'd avoid the apts in that area not the best. Contact a good real estate agent that also handles condos. That area should have several since its close to Champions a decent area.

At least with a condo you are in your own little area and not subject to quite so many bad neighbors.

That depends on your lifestyle.  Are you ok with commuting to work?  IF so then the memorial or even downtown area are young and hip but can be costly. However they are closer to the action, lots of restaurants and clubs. If commuting is not part of your plan than look in the Katy area.  This area is growing by leaps and bounds daily. Southwest Houston can be good or bad.  Houston is very strange in the fact that one street can be safe and hip and cool while just 2 blocks in any direction can be completely opposite.  I recommend that you drive around and visit the area you want to consider at several times of the day and look around.  Check to see how well the neighborhood is maintained and what type of traffic it has (are there lots of homeless people hanging around or people out walking their dogs).  Good luck to you.

Anywhere inside loop 6-10 is good or you can move further out by your job to katy. It all depends what you wanna spend. Anywhere between the "suburbs" and houston -(galleria, loop,heights area) is kinda iffy. Uptown is nice also.
