I am moving to Seattle in a month and don't want to end up in the bad parts of town. I am 24 and enjoy going out, I will be working in the city as well. Any suggestions not on the top of the price list?

  1. Ballard and Fremont are great, affordable neighborhoods. Fremont has some cozy pubs and restaurants, new apartments, and generally younger people living there. The drive from Ballard or Fremont to downtown Seattle is about 10 minutes.

The University District is also a great place to live, especially for someone your age because of the young, outspoken students in high concentration in that area. A lot of shops, restaurants, and bars there on "The Ave" (University Way). About a 5 minute drive to downtown.

All these places should be affordable and comfortable for you and your needs.

Some more expensive but very nice places are Madrona and Queen Anne. Both are close to downtown, and are really nice neighborhoods.

Greenlake and Phinney are two areas that are generally affordable and you might want to consider them as well.

  2. Ok, these are not on the top of the price list: Under a freeway overpass, behind a grocery store, or in a wooded area at a park.

OK, on a serious note. How far do you want to live from downtown? If that's not real important to you, you can live for less in a suburb usually, I would stay away from Renton & the Rainier Valley though.

  3. you wont want anything in west seattle or... beacon hill or the aurora by kmart and bitterlake

but some good areas are phinney and its not too costly, and also by the zoo

and maybe fremont or wallingford also

seattle a great place and i hope you like it :)
