Question:

Where should I place my snakes under tank heater?

I was thinking of putting it on the side with the water bowl to warm the water and maybe let off a little steam to keep it moist and humid. Is this a bad Idea?

Also, my snake is a ball python and the tank is a 50 or 60 gallon terrarium.

  1. i dont use an under tank heater for my ball pythons.  i put a heat lamp on one side.  i have one hide box on the warm side (no hotter than 90 - 93 F during the day) and then on the cool side i have another hide and the water bowl.  to get humidity in the tank just spray it a few times during the day with a spray bottle.

  2. The water dish should be on the opposite side of the heat pad. Heating the water will increase bacterial growth. Misting with a spray bottle is a good way to increase humidity.
