Keeping in mind I'm a middle aged woman travelling solo and I don't speak Spanish and I don't tango but I do like to sightsee, shop, eat good food and meet people on my travels! Do people go out by themselves there? I'm also on a budget and would like to keep my hotel cost to about $100 per night or less. Any ideas or suggestions would be most welcome!

  1. Check out Ayres de Recoleta Hotel--big rooms--$115 double on some websites but Recoleta is the best and safest area in BA which is a lot safer than US cities anyway.  The shopping is great and so is the food (gourmet meals for less than $10).  Hotel has terrific ratings--check out the comments on Expedia or Travelocity.  Staff are fluent in English and super helpful.

  2. Yes of course people go out alone there and no one will think anything of it .I usually stay with friends in San Telmo a quaint, hip, historic neighborhood in Buenos Aires and would highly recommend that area.I have included a link and suggest you email Alan Patrick who can help you with hotel information and can answer any of the other questions you might have about BA or Argentina. He is very knowledgeable and a truly nice person. You might consider taking one of his tours to aquaint you with the city.If for some reason you can't reach him feel free to email me and I will do my best to answer any other questions that you might have.

It is a wonderful country and a beautiful & vibrant city.

I'm sure you will love it there and will return often, as I do.

    Have a great trip!
