I want to study abroad for Spring 2009. My two choices would be London, England at the University College London or Brisbane, Australia at the University of Queensland. Does anyone know much about these places or have studied there ? I want to go to London because I want to travel around Europe, but it is so expensive there, but I heard the University is prestigious. I want to go to Australia because I hear the Australians are nice and there is great wildlife, but I won't be able to travel to a lot of different countries. Please let me know what you think or what you would do!! Thanks so much!!

  1. Australia defiantly

  2. If you want culture, cheap flights to interesting countries and a great expat community try London. However London is rainy and expensive and people whine a lot and it's hard to get close to them.

Brisbane is great for beaches, relaxed and friendly people and is much cheaper than europe. However, it's not very renown for education, it's not  close to other major cities and as for culture, well except for the aussie culture, there isn't much in Brisbane.

For me it pretty much comes down to whether you want to travel for beautiful beaches, interesting animals and unique natural experiences. Or if you want to travel for culture, historical significance and easy weekend trips all over the place.

In my opinion choose Europe but not London. There are way more beautiful cities to live in that cost much less, have you thought about Florence? or Prague? or even Budapest? all three are inexpensive and have great university courses taught in English (Budapest even has great scholarships that include accommodation, I have a friend who got one)

  3. My best friend lives in London England and she does travel a lot and it is very easy since she is in such close proximity to other countries, and she says it is fairly cheap if you get the right deals and time.  I also had an old college roommate who studied in australia (Queensland I think).  But she absolutely loved it.  She said there was so much freedom and so much to do and see.  She said everyone was really nice to her and she met a lot of really cool friends. I would choose australia personally because the diversity in everything.  Hope this helps

  4. For a student - London. Brisbane is a working city, very boring, lacks character.
