Where should I take my family to on a cruise?

Question

My family and I are planning to go on a 4-5 night cruise. But we haven't planned out destination yet. We need a cruise from April 13,2009-April 17 2009 OR April 12 2009- April 18,2009. We also need a cruise that is around $250-$500.

I agree with B Ann, determine where you want to cruise out of first.  If you have to fly regardless as you aren't close by a port, then I suggest you fly in the day before and stay in a hotel, unless you go with cruiseline air.  Usually it's much more expensive to fly with the air porvided by the cruise, but it's guaranteed to get you to the ship and the transfers are included so you don't have to worry about taxis and all that.  Joe Shmo quoted a cruise that I happen to have just come back from.  Carnival Imagination, you have 4 nights and you go to Key West and Cozumel.  It's inexpensive and a great time.

Wherever you go on a cruise, you will have a great time.  Sometimes it is easier to decide where you want to leave from and then see where you can get a cruise to from there.  VacationsToGo.com has a good website with different ways to search for cruises and they have very good deals.  I think you get pretty much the same prices from the various internet travel places.  Cruisecritic.com is a good place to go for reviews of ships.  Have a great time.

Also, if the destination is important to you, then be sure to check carefully just when the ship will be in that port.  Sometimes it turns out that you will be in Puerto Rico for only 4 hours in an evening or something like that.

If this is your 1st cruise pick a shorter one just to make sure your enjoy cruising. The Port of Tampa and Miami have some short cruises that are usually pretty cheap.

Any cruise is good. It's the air fare that's the killer. If you live within driving distance from the pier, wonderful. If not, a Western Caribbean is a good starter cruise. They are usually less expensive than some.

Do the "mystery cabin which is the cheapest!" It is 409 for the first 2 people and you can get three in a room! I think the others are 199 pp. Its cheap! I am taking the exact same cruise next August. Im already booked. My son took this one and LOVED IT!
