Question:

Where should I take used crutches to?

I don't want to just throw them away. I live in Polk County, FL.

I don't want to just take them somewhere they will be resold to make people money. I would rather take them to where they can be used by anyone who really needs them. I hope that makes sense.

  1. Look for a Goodwill, Salvation Army, or Volunteers of America, they will love to take them off of your hands.

  2. I use aluminum underarm crutches most of the time.  Although they are still serviceable, the hole where the length is adjusted gets elongated from use and makes a clicking sound.  At that point, I keep them in my car and drop them off at the first Goodwill or such that I pass.  They are happy to have them.

  3. Donate them to your local high school.  I am a high school athletic trainer, and as with most high schools we have a very small athletic training budget.  I love it when we get community donations such as crutches or used exercise equipment.  For us, if it's something we can't use it gets passed on to our school nurse who distributes them to other organizations.

  4. cant you take them back to the hospital im sure they can find a good use for them

  5. salvation army
