Question:

Where should I tilt the steering to? I'm short!!?

Safety wise, in case of air bag deployment, what is the best position for the steering wheel for someone who is short? I'm only 4'11'', so I have to usually put my seat most of the way forward. This results in the steering wheel to be quite close. Should it be done as far as it can go, that way if for some reason the airbag went off, it would be more in my chest area, or should it be tilted up more? Any info would be appreciated!

  1. Adjust your seat no closer than you absolutely need to,   then adjust the wheel so you are comfortable.

  2. I would adjust it so that it fells comfortable to you and not that close to your chest, also I would look into getting peddle extensions to help you.

  3. Just down low so you can see over it. you don't have to worry about the air bag it doesn't come out as fast as you would think.

  4. where ever it feels right to you there is no set place for anything in a car thats why theymake thing to  move so you can adjust them to fit the driver so put it where you like it

  5. sweet pea the force of the airbags have taken numerous lifes already make sure never to point it to your face and if posible try not to adjust your seat to close to the steering wheel and most of all avoid crashing into someone or something

  6. Point it towards your chest or lower...not your face.

  7. .Just make sure you can reach the pedals and adjust the wheel where it's the most comfortable.

And by the way....the one who says the airbag doesn't come out as fast as you think?....are you for real?

That airbag is designed to deploy just as fast as a collision....which is instantaneous...

it's not going to do any good if it comes out after the collision ..is it?...of course not...it would be useless that way.

If you're worried about being too close to the wheel..then maybe consider some kind of pedal extentions...it's not something to feel embarrassed about..afterall..it's more important about safety than what others would think.

Airbags can cause injury if you're in the wrong  place in front of them...but it's not 100% guaranteed that you would be injured if it went off.

Read all the warning labels associated with the airbag..because the warnings are there for a reason.
