Where should I vacation for Christmas?

I want to travel for Christmas, but I'm not sure where. I was thinking maybe Oregon, but IDK. I live in Florida, so I want to go somewhere cold, but not somewhere out in the boonies. I'm more of a city girl, and my parents are more...IDK, small-town loving, I guess. Where's somewhere we could go that suits both tastes?

Stay in Rhode Island because it's central to Connecticut casino's, Boston, Newport and, Providence is an absolutely beautiful city full of various entertainment venues, fabulous restaurants, museums, Brown U., RI School of Design.  

In an hour driving east to west you can go from beautiful beaches to dense woodlands.  In the fall the leaves are gorgeous!
