I have four days from a Tuesday to Friday plus saturday and sunday if I want. I want to make some day trips in or around Barrie. All must be under 3 hour drive. I was thinking of things like the Toronto Zoo. Things I wouldn't do everyday... Any Suggestions?

  1. Toronto Zoo is good, the Elmvale Zoo is quite good.  Wasaga Beach and Collingwood is always great during summer.  If you will have kids with you Santa's Village is fun.  African Lion Safari is something you don't do everyday.  A trip on the Serendipity Princess ( a boat  that tours Kempenfelt Bay) is beautiful.  Casino Rama is about 30-40 minutes away.  Depending on when you will be visiting there are lots of summer festivals and events in the area.

Caribana festival in Toronto (July) is fantastic.

  2. Obviously you should check out Toronto, the closest large city. From Barrie, downtown Toronto is about a 1 1/2 hour drive away. In addition to the Zoo, you have the CN Tower, Eaton Centre, Yorkville, the Royal Ontario Museum, lots of great restaurants and nightlife, and all the things you'd expect from a large city.

Niagara Falls is about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Barrie and is also a must-see.

In and around Barrie, check out Wasaga Beach, go boating on Kempenfelt Bay, go gambling at Casino Rama, go to the farmer's market at City Hall, and check out the Leacock Museum in Orillia.

  3. I'd checkout the local strip joints if I were you

  4. Sharon Temple

    Orillia carvings, Leacock Museum

    McMichael  Gallery,  Kleinberg

    Haliburton Forest Walk-in-the-Clouds tree walk

    Wasaga Beach
