I have a projector for tv use only. It is HD compatible and we do get HD service at my house. The projector doesn't come with a tv tuner so we have it hooked up the VCR to get the cable signal. The problem with that is that the quality of the signal is bad b/c of the VCR.

  1. If you're talking HD from the cable channels, then you'll need some kind of digital cable box from the cable company.  If it's over-the-air HDTV (free), there are HDTV tuners for that; home entertainment electronics stores should carry them, or some online retailer.  Or you could put together a Home Theater PC, and use an HDTV tuner card or USB tuner (under $100); this will give you PVR functions too.
