I guess if you're 30 then you can afford a good hotel and not go to a backpackers hostel. I recommend the area of Recoleta or Palermo Hollywood as they are quite bohemian and you will be able to fine other solo travellers. For me the best place is now Puerto Madero, I always enjoy staying at the Hilton there and recently I discovered Faena Hotel which is like being at Soho NY!
