You can have one at the mall and hire the Video Game store for an hour or two and the kids can play all the video games they want. Then, afterwards, you can have the birthday cake and presents, etc. I did this two years in a row for my son!

first what is your child interested in? is the child a boy or a girl? For a girl there is hair colleges that give parties for makeovers. For a boy make it a movie night and each guest can get dress up for the movie like transformer, star wars, or whatever their favorite movie character is. or if they are into yugioh cards set up a some card tables and have them play for fun or some silly prizes. no taking or trading cards from the losers.  the cards are worth some money. find a local store that specialize in yugioh cards you might find some umpires that can come and do some official play. That you don't have to play umpire the entire night. it all depends on how much you want to spend.
