Where should i buy my pet rabbit from?

Ok well i adopted a lionehad rabbit from petco 4 days ago. He hadnt pooped for 3 days and wasnt eating that much. I returned him yesterday to petco because they sold me a sick rabbit. I have been told that pets mart, petco, and pet supplies plus treat their animals with neglect and do not care for them properly. Now i wanna buy antoher rabbit. Theres a dwarf rabbit at pet supplies plus for $35. Do you guys think i should buy it? If not where should i buy or adopt rabbits from. I live in des plaines illinois so if you wanna name an adoption agency name one in my area.

Go to petland.com and if you have one in your state go there! They have very friendly people at a modest price.

By the way if you do have one there don't buy the food in name brand bags get it from there dispenser it cost MUCH less!

Go to the pet shelter. They always have rabbits there. Here, they sell them for only $15. And they have all diffrent ages, and sometimes diffrent breeds.

And you will be halping out a bunny that needs a home!

Don't buy from a pet store.  You can't see where they were raised, and, as you have already experienced, they are usually sick.  Even if they aren't sick, they often have behavior issues due to inbreeding and breeding with no regard for temperament.  Either buy from a reputable breeder who vet checks their kits before sending them to new homes, and keeps several weeks following weaning to make sure they have adjusted well to being fully on solid foods (so about 10 weeks old), or adopt from a shelter or rescue.  Most local shelters take in rabbits regularly.  If they don't have one now, be patient, they likely will soon, rabbits are the third-most surrendered animal in the US.  There are also rabbit rescues in many areas that are the best bet for a healthy, happy rabbit and lots of post-adoption support and information.

I agree go to the pound or animal shelter nearest to you and look in the rabbit section. They have lots of rabbits there that need good homes.

Petfinder.com is also a nice site. you can look  at all sorts of animals in your area.
