  1. try feeding him worms instead of crix; the worms cant get very far at all. you can use young silkworms (make sure they are smaller than the space between the beardie's eyes), phoenix worms, or small, freshly molted meal worms.

  2. you should feed him freeze dried crickets and the salad that comes in a bag in the grocerie store is good for them too they also have moist crickets that are already dead so they wont run away (they come in a small can)

  3. a 10 gallon tank works great for this. he can see whats going on around him. put the crickets in first then the dragon. he should start going after the crickets. i wouldnt feed him dead. its not a good idea.

  4. Canned or anything already dead is no good. I close the drain in the tub and let my babies go cricket hunting in there or larger tupperware tubs that I keep for feeding my snakes. Just nto too many at a time or they can stress your beardie. Try keeping a small veggie dish in there though since he needs some even as a juvi. That will help make sure he's well fed. ^_^

  5. when i feed my baby bearded dragon i make sure he sees that im going to put the crickets in and then i feed him one at a time so that i know if one gets away and hides and so its easier for him. If one hides i just lift up the log etc. and get it out.

  6. Maybe you should get dead crickets or something, maybe kill the crickets so that they wont hide.

  7. I would never feed my bearded the canned crickets- I don't trust the preservatives and other stuff that might be in them.

I always fed my bearded in a separated 10 gallon tank lined with paper towels. He was nervous at first, but I set him in there occasionally when I wasn't feeding him, and he eventually became more comfortable- he even looked forward to it after a while.

If the separate feeding tank just doesn't work, you can try a low, shallow, slick feeding dish. These can be hard to find. Crickets can usually escape from these, though, so you'll probably have to pinch their back legs off (look where the "thighs" are on their back legs and squeeze.) This may sound cruel, but I've never really thought it was any worse than what the bearded was going to do later.

Bagged salads can also work- as long as they do not contain spinach or iceberg. Spinach interferes with calcium absorption in reptiles, and iceberg has almost no nutritional value and can cause diarrhea.
