I'm planning a trip to Thailand in early October and I'm unsure where I should go!!

I've been to Koh Samui already and I've been told that Koh Samui and Phuket will have some dodgy weather ath this time (is this correct)?

So My question is where is the best place to visit in thailand with some night life and some sandy beaches?

Thanks in advance

  1. Well if you go to Pattaya it will be cheaper than Phuket for hotels and you do not have to pay for a plane ride.

You will find beach sand in Pattaya but other than sunbathing, shopping, restaurants, malls and bars the beach is lousy for swimming.  Foreigners go to nearby Jomtien (20 baht ride.)

Hotels will be cheaper in Pattaya compared to Phuket and Bangkok, same for transportation by baht bus (10 baht per ride.)  There is plenty of nightlife, malls, several movie theaters, lots of street vendors and travel agencies for tours.

Transportation to Pattaya from the Ekamai bus station will be around 120 baht for the 2 hour VIP bus ride.  Get your ticket inside, right hand side - ask how long the ride will be - avoid the 4-5 hour "milk stop" bus ride!  Ekamai bus station is right on a Skytrain stop.

You may have some rain every now and then but usually it will stop in an hour or so.  The sun comes out again when the rain stops.  Try Pattaya and if you don't care for it you can go somewhere else.   At Pattaya you can also visit Koh Larn island (20 baht for the ferry ride) or get a hotel in nearby Jomtien.

P.S. Get a hotel near Pattaya 2nd Road (Pattaya Sai Song) and you will be able to walk to many places.  When in Pattaya I prefer the area between Central and Royal Garden Plaza Mall.  If you need hotel recommendations mention how much you want to pay per night to narrow down the suggestions.

    Good luck.

  2. Pattaya would have to be one of the greatest choice.

There are far too many attractions to list, but anything and everything is there:  aquarium, wildlife parks, elephant treks, go karting, water parks, beaches, boat rides, boat tours, video arcades, fun restaurants, reasonably priced shopping, and hundreds of other things and places to go.  All reasonably priced.   Also Mini Siam park, a few botanical gardens, and day boat trip to Koh Larn, 20 minutes by speedboat 400 baht one way, or 45 minutes by ferry boat... boats leaving from Bali Hai pier, just past Walking Street... boats leave about once an hour.   Koh Larn is beautiful, like paradise... almost.

also, endless nightlife... for all tastes. main thing is just to walk around and see it all.

There are many nice air-conditioned restaurants serving a wide variety of cuisine, (Thai, Chinese, Indian, Japanese, Italian, German, Seafood etc.) and that doesn't include the fabulous (though often comparatively pricey at between 650bht & 1100bht each) buffets served by the larger hotels. If you want to sit outside, there are also many nice restaurants - some with live bands or shows.

If you fancy something different you could go ten-pin bowling (3 centres), handgun shooting at Tiffanys (38's, 9mm's 45's), go to the cinema (110bht each), watch Muy Thai kickboxing, or go to one of the Transvestite shows which are spectacular 'showgirl' type extravaganzas.

There are far too many drinking holes to list, but they range from traditional american style bars, Irish pubs, English pubs, german style bars and thai beer bars. They all offer a different ambiance which allows you to have several different nights out in one.

  4. i would say phuket. not sure bt the weather. you could go bangkok the city. but i know of a beach called coral island. not sure if it's in phuket or bangkok.

  5. Pattaya is of course what everybody who knows Thailand and Pattaya would say.

Absolutely the easiest to reach from BKK Airport. Hotels for every budget.

And of course the wildest NightLife in South East Asia.

October may be packed so make sure you at least book for one or two nights so you don't have to spend hours looking for a room with  your gear.

October is a great time have fun!

  6. one word..... PATTAYA!!! THE BEST NIGHTLIFE IN THE PLANET. AND BEACHES

  7. At this time of the year, the weather is abit iffy, it's humid and rainy.

Looks like the places where you want to go are the beaches with some night life. So I'd say try "Pattaya" which is an hour or 2 from Bangkok by car. "Hua Hin" is another great destination although it doesn't have as much night life.

If you're not into beaches that much "Chiang Mai" is also quite fun.

As for islands... Phuket is probably the thing you're looking for. Great beaches, great night life.
