Where should i have my car stereo installed at?

I was thinking maybe at bestbuy. Has anyone had any experience in dealing with bestbuy in car audio?

The installers at most Best Buys are pretty ignorant.  Some know what they are doing, but I don't think its worth taking a chance unless you know them personally.  An independent audio shop will know what they are doing which is why they tend to be higher.  

However, I also agree that you should learn to do it yourself as you do indeed save a lot of money.  And I mean a lot.  All you'd need is a couple hours of free time, possibly a wire crimper, and a basic toolkit, like those $20 ones at Wal-Mart.  You could also get instructions for your specific vehicle at www.crutchfield.com.  They include them for free when purchasing car audio products from them and while I'm not 100% sure if they sell just the instructions, I don't see why they wouldn't.

I would avoid Best Buy.  They hire any kid who claims to know anything about installs and as a result I have seen them do some really dumb stuff.  It might cost a little more but a reputable stereo specialty shop would be better.  You can look for car audio forums and learn to do it your self.  It's just really time consuming but not really hard.  Saves you a butt load of money.

You could go ask any 5 year old off the street to install it and that would be better than anything Bestbuy could ever do.

Get the info that you need about your car and install it yourself. It is not all that hard, well for the most part. Search forums to learn how to remove the dash panel to remove the stereo. Get your harness adaptor and wire it into the stereo adaptor. It all is color coded so you can not go wrong unless your colorblind.

have it installed in your car... if you want it installed at best buy you will have to go there to listen to it... just my opinion (they already have car sterios there i love listening too, and ITS FREE)
