  1. Well, it's no secret I have a love affair going with Melbourne - so I say go there!

In saying that, I don't think you could go wrong with either as they are both happening places for young people such as yourself.

Have you been to either place? Do you know anyone in either?

Both are a long way from your home city so that won't factor into it.

I vote Melbourne because there is so much to do there (that I enjoy). In saying that a mate of mine adores Sydney more.

Good Luck & congrats on  your job!

  2. i may be biased. but melbourne is the best. where else could it be forty degrees one week and electric blanket weather the next lol. ok, not really selling it to you here but... Sydney is more expensive in general. and melbourne has a great arts scene, music and cafes. congrats on graduating :D

butreally you should choose whichever would be more beneficial to your career, and that would suit the lifestyle you want more.

  3. Melbourne. It's cheaper, so if they are offering you the same money for either location, you'd be better off with Melbourne. Melbourne people are also friendlier than Sydney people.

  4. All your going to get is biased answers.

People are not friendlier in Melbourne nor is it more laid back. People wise people are the same. There are s****. people in both cities. The only real differences between Sydney and Melbourne are 1. Public transport in Melbourne is alot more efficient and reliable. 2. Weather is warmer in Sydney in winter and doesnt experience the four seasons in one day like Melbourne does.

You should look into which city suits your needs. Which has more opportunity if you want to change or advance your career. Which has the housing you require.

Sydney is expensive but Melbourne isn't exactly cheap, theres not a real big difference.

    Look into

    - Accomodation

    - Transport required

    - Weather preference

    - Airfares to Perth

    - Opportunities available

Honestly I don't think there is a real big difference for what your looking at.

  5. i use to  live in  melbourne and i live it  alot  it is up to you weather yu want  to go  haveyou set your  life with where you want to go and  where your heart is leading you  try both and  you will  know  weather you  want to go to melbourne or  sydney  at least you  get the taste of both  area of australia

  6. if you work in marketing/media/journalism Sydney is definitely better for it! way more job opportunitys!

I live in Melbourne but plan to more there when im older to work!

  7. If you're looking for practical reasons - then Melbourne would be better cost wise, it's a cheaper city generally to live in than Sydney is.

Melbourne has colder weather, sydney is a little warmer, both Melbourne and sydney have plenty to do night life-wise. Both have reasonable access to public transport.

Maybe another factor you should consider is cost as to when you want to fly home to visit Perth? Find out if it's cheaper to fly from Sydney or Melbourne?

I live in Melbourne and its a little more laid back than Sydney, and has an awesome music scene if you're into that.

Both have good things and bad things - if you can before hand, maybe come and visit both and check them out for yourself so that you can make a more informed decision.
