i have a big square bedroom of space. I'll try and envision the way its positioned. I am standing in the doorway, which is in the far left corner and to my right is a big window and thats it!!!!! i am getting a walk-in wardrobe installed soon (but don't know what wall it should go on), a double bed, a bedside dresser, a normal dresser with mirror & a proper entertainment/tv stand.. I want my furniture to be positioned in a proper interior design kind of way (feng shui or whatever its called).. Please Help me!!! i am trying to create my bedroom as simplistic as i can, using warm neutral colorings. I also need advice as to what should go on my dresser and what should go on my bedside (: i'm going shopping tomorrow and need ideas in order to buy my essentials, thankyou :) xxxxxx

  1. As I've said on here before, I'm not the best to answer about Feng Sui as I don't follow it's guidelines myself.

I think your room plans sounds great - as is pretty much the layout I was going to suggest! I believe if your decorate and organize your room to suit your needs and the space you have, then it will be a place you feel calm and comfortable.

I don't think having plants in your room is a bad thing at all, they not only convert carbon dioxide to oxygen but also trap and absorb many pollutants and are a beautiful decorative feature.

I also don't think your idea of having lots of lamps is a bad one. Different lighting creates a different atmospheres which is perfect for

bedroom. You will be able to use your combination of overhead lighting and lamps to create whatever mood you want in your bedroom.

Matching lamps on your bedside table, and different matching lights either side of your dresser will look very elegant. Interior designers often use symmetry to create the formal looks you see in places such as hotels.

Warm neutral colours are great to work with, as you can easily and cheaply update your accessories if and when your tastes change!

I'd say an essential for your shopping trip is good storage solutions - nice boxes, jellewery stands etc...

Hope this is of some help x

  2. Placement of the bed in front of a window is not a great plan as as cold air can blow on your head during the night.

Placement of the bed directly in front of the door is not a great plan-it is wonderful to be able to see the door way-just not directly in front of the door.

Creating a beautiful and functional bedroom takes planning, and ask yourself if your willing to invest in additional furniture or rugs. Dressers are very needed in a bedroom to store clothing and belongings-check out the hardware stores to see if they carry any "pantry" cupboards changing the paint colour and the handles can create a functional and attractive unit.

  3. If you want to apply Feng Shui to position your bedroom furniture, you should at least take into account your favorable directions to place your bed.
