  1. Hi, hostels are your best bet I think for traveling on a budget.

I haven't personally stayed in any hostels in Paris as I have family there, but I used this website to book a hostel for my friend:

As far as I can remember, she stayed at Woodstock hostel in Montmartre (lovely area!) and really liked it ... http://www.woodstock.fr/wd-data/en-data/...

A few more sites that will give you lists of hostels are...

    http://www.hostels.com/paris

And another Montmartre hostel I just came across:

Of course, if you choose a single or double room over a dorm, you can expect to pay more. And hostels that are based around the centre of Paris will probably be more pricey.

It's very easy to get around Paris once you get the hang of the metro so you don't necessarily need to be smack-bang in the centre.  Montmartre is a very good area if you're into art and music ... it's quite a bohemian scene with a lot of buskers and street artists as well as the Moulin Rouge and the Sacre Coeur.

If it helps ... here's a metro map:

Once you work out where you are and where you want to go it's very easy to use.  Once you've found the right line, just make sure you go the right direction!!

    Have a great time!

  2. The Hotel Tiquetonne at 6 rue Tiquetonne is a good choice for inexpensive accomodations. A single with shared facilities costs 30€ and with private bath and WC its 50€.

Its located in the 2nd arrondissement which is central and within fairly easy walking distance of both the Marais and the Latin Quarter.

They have no internet presence so you need to call or fax to reserve a room. the numbers are Phone: 01-42-36-94-58

    Fax: 01-42-36-02-94.

The Hôtel des Alliés at 20 rue Berthollet in the 5th is another cheap sleep. Its convenient to the myriad inexpensive restaurants on the  Rue Mouffetard and a short walk to the nightlife of the Latin Quarter. http://www.alliesparishotel.com/

  3. Hôtel Ritz Paris
