Where should my charity go - to myself or to others?

This weekend, I'm holding the annual village fair on the lower field of the estate. It gives me an opportunity to mingle with the gutter classes of the local community, and chat with them about their mundane, boring lives. This year I face somewhat of a dillema. The villagers have requested that this year, I donate the fair's takings to help build a new care home for the homeless children of the county, as currently they only have a disused bread mill to sleep in. I certainly have plenty of cash for that, but I was planning to spend the money on a new games room for the mansion. Should I do as the villagers request?

  1. Surely there'll be enpough cash to do both?

If not, have your games room and ask the BBC or someother company to come in and make over the bread mill for one of their vulgar little television makeover programmes.

  2. Maybe you could just remodel the bread mill....you know add an indoor bathroom and radiant heat etc....a game room is after all going to make you feel good and charity begins at home right?

  3. you allow them to sleep??? ye gods man put the children to work in the mines, they would most certainly be warm there ;-)

  4. Think of the precedent you'll be setting if you give in to these requests. Why, the villagers might begin thinking that you actually care about their welfare and start a new village improvement project each year at your expence. Why not give them "seed" money - 25 pounds or less - and they can raise their own funds to redecorate the bread mill.

  5. Toward the Children's Care Home........Then you can tell your guests at your mansion how you showed your concern for homeless children and helped them

  6. Think of building the home as building a barn - a place to raise some new young servants for your mansion in the years to come. After all, you will get older someday & need care - think of how they'd feel so indebted to you for your thoughtfulness now. As a matter of fact, have the children sign a note of indebtedness to you befor you build - that guarantees you servants for life! You can always find another way to raise funds for a game room.

  7. yes

  8. Although this might sound odd, coming from me.... I would buy the villagers the new care home..... however on the proviso that the home is located within the new annex, devoted to the games room, and that the children being endebted to your service ( until say they reach 50 years of age ? ) ......  This would allow you a ready made staff for your facilities.....  the youths could polish the billiard balls, clean the tennis and squash courts, trimming of the golf course etc etc ......  as I am sure that your current staff will be reaching the age for retirement soon ?

  9. It is a biblical truth that charity should begin at home - not at "the Home". I think that should help you to see the moral, Christian answer to your dilemma.

You wouldn't want to spoil them - it'll only have them begging for something else before long. It's like giving dogs scraps at table.

  10. Ive got plenty of deserving projects that could do with charitable support.

If you know of any other charity that might want to donate to development in Africa let me know.

    HELP THE KIDS!

  11. All I can say is this, charity starts at home when needed.

  12. Yes!!! Please do, it helps them a whole lot and it's way better than a bread mill to sleep in =[[

  13. A mansion wouldnt be a mansion without a gamesroom. Go for it, to he11 with the lower class scum lol
