Where should my family stay during Thanksgiving?

My family will be visiting for Thanksgiving and there is not enough room in my house for all of them to stay. The guests will be elderly, middle age, thirty somethings and children not to mention dogs. Maybe 10-15 people. I am looking for suggestions more creative than a hotel please.

Thank You!

  1. well, we always give them

a whole bunch of blankets and they sleep on the floor...

    ???

idk, but still a hotel is best,

unless they dont mind sleeping tightly next to each other

  2. You didn't say where you are located. Look into renting a house in the area for a week or so. You can contact a local rental agency. For that many ppl it'll be much cheaper than hotels.

  3. a bed & breakfast might be fun or talk to some of your close friends or other family that might be out of town for the holiday.  kinda like houseswapping.  have u seen the movie "holiday" with cameron diaz and kate winslet.  no to forget that dreamy jude law, i'll swap houses with someone if he comes with the deal lol.

  4. Maybe if your good with your neighbors they can sleep there or you have to take a motel. Better than sleeping on the ground somewhere.

  5. Does your town have a town hall, civic centre,or Room for the community?

  6. I don't know where you live, but I guess if this is just asking in general, I swear by www.priceline.com just go to name your price and type in the amount of money you want to spend, what location, and what hotel rating would be best. 1-4 star. It works out well and you can type in the # of rooms you want and everything. I love it. I usually get about a $50 room at a 4 star hotel depending on the location. Hope this helps!

  7. Do you have other family in the area that could accommodate some of them? If not, maybe a Bed & Breakfast. It's a bit more homey then a hotel. That's about all I can think of. When we visit family, I'm actually happy to stay in a hotel because it gives us a break from all the commotion and more privacy when showering and getting ready.

  8. Do you know anyone that lives at a apartments?  They have club houses, you could rent?  Worth looking into, or what about everyone getting together for camping?  Don't know you area mine would be to darn cold, and I know my family would love that, not sure are your folks country or city?

  9. if there is any camp grounds or state parks in your area see have the have cabins for rent

  10. Bed and Breakfast.

  11. rent a large motor home and park it in the driveway. give the elderly people the bedrooms in the house, assign a couple of the adults to sleep in the motor home with the kids who are old enough to do that. the younger children, if there are any, keep in the house with their mother and or dad.

Tell, not Ask, them to leave their pets at home if at all possible.

do you have any close neighbors, that you would be close enough to, to ask if they have a bedroom they can spare for a couple nights after explaining your situation

kids love an excuse to 'camp out' depending on the ages make pallets on the floor for them to sleep

this sounds like fun... when i was young my family did something like this, we had moved from Dallas to SanAntonio, Texas, and several families of friends (22 people in total) came from Dallas to SA for a few days to visit us. they brought campers, tents and tons of sleeping gear. but it wasn't in November and the weather was appropriate for camping, lol we had so much fun

    Good Luck

  12. plymouth rock

  13. Really, I've acutually celebrated events like these with my family, all my cousins aunts uncles. It was a huge celebration, and they couldnt fit my house. But really the only solution IS a hotel, we had a hotel really nearby our house , it was really nice, and cheap. So my family stayed there!

im sorry i cant offer any better advice, but i truly believe that a hotel/motel is the best option,

  14. Put them in hammocks hanging from the trees in the back yard?  Can they sleep in their cars?  Tents in the back yard?  Homeless shelters?  Benches at the bus station?

More creative than a hotel or just cheaper than a hotel?

  15. There may be a house you can rent in your area  check with a Realtor/Realty company

it may be cheaper than a hotel for all of them .

  16. a hotel

  17. Something more creative than a hotel would be a charming local inn or a bed & breakfast in your area - they are more quaint and cozy than a hotel.
