Where should one sit in a two person kayak?

Good question . Ideally you should sit slightly behind the center of the kayak. The kayak needs to be slightly bow light. That said, you should sit in the rear seat. You need to add ballast to the front seat to bring the bow down. Be sure the ballast is secure. Water bags are one ballast to try, sand bags another.  Sometimes wind will dictate the seating. Head wind? Use the front seat. Tail wind? Use the rear seat.
