  1. I am sure you will come up with the right ones.  This is very kind and generous of your class.  Keep up the excellent work.  Just imagine if everybody got together to donate.

  2. Congrats on raising the money. First decide if you all want to donate it locally or to somewhere else. Then take votes on which ones to donate to. Example: 30 kids - 30 ideas, then vote. Top 10 choices get a vote. Lastly top 3 choices win the money.  gl and again congratulations to you all.

  3. Give it to a local charity where you can actually see your money at work for a visual reminder that giving to others is good--this could be a learning experience for your class.

Talk with the nonprofit agencies, explain what your class has done and how you would like to divide up the money.  See if there isn't something your money could sponsor for your class to see the tangible good it is doing for someone.

I hope that makes sense.  I would suggestion the animal shelter, ask them to tell you what they could do with $35 (2 weeks worth of dog food, medicine for a cat, or bedding for small animals).

I like the Down Syndrome idea, maybe they could use it to get "stimulating" games/toys for the kids to play with.

Or, you could give it to a local soup kitchen to buy food for the homeless, then ask if your class could come serve a meal on the weekend or in the evening.  This would be great experience for you to understand that not everyone has food to eat or a place to sleep.

I hope your class will decide on 3 great nonprofit groups in your area and that it will ignite a passion to help others in your heart.

  4. I think the best use of your money would be to make a small business loan to a struggling person in a developing country.

Then, when he or she paid the money back, you could loan it out again to someone else!

  5. How about a local food bank.  Many hungry children out there.

  6. I think you should do a class project on www.wishuponahero.com  People there make wishes for things such as food, clothes, baby formula, etc. THEN you will know that your donation is going directly to someone in need at that moment and not somewhere that needs to pay overhead!! Think about it, Give your teacher the website, its family friendly and lots of great ways for your whole class to get involved! Some kids on there just wish for Birthday cards! Some sick kids may wish for a blanket! Good luck, and Im glad you are doing this!
