  1. In Trastevere and Gianicolo area there are a lot of good  restaurants.

Skip Vatican area ,they are too touristic.

Try pizza (generally in the evening) it's very different and better from pizza in USA  (it's thin and wood- owen cooked) .

Have a nice trip and well come in Rome

  2. There are too many good restaurants to suggest a few, but, the best advise I can give is to stay away from the restaurants in the touristy areas.  They will be very expensive and the food will be mediocre.

Your best bet is to find the small out-of-the-way places in the residential areas, these are the places the locals go and they will be much cheaper and of much better quality.

  3. look at my list of my favourite place in the center rome

  4. Pizzerias: Montecarlo (the one near Corso Vittorio Emmanuele), Ivo in Trastevere

  5. Well, as "Amar D" said, pizza is a good election, if you like it. But you can't leave Roma before enjoying some pasta dishes (spaghetti, agnolotti, ravioli, gnocchi) with variety of Italian sauces. Oh, also spread lots of Parmesano cheese on them.

  6. My favorite restaurant in Rome is La Taverna dei Mercanti.  It is located in Trastevere.  The food is very good but the atmosphere is wonderful.  The building looks medieval inside and out.  There are even torches on the outside of the restaurant.  The menu came rolled up like a scroll and we even got to keep it!  It is so cool I had it framed and it now hangs in my house.

  7. In a pizzeria.

    P.S.

    Don't get robbed.
