Me and my friends are going to Costa Rica in December for a volunteer program, and so have figured we probably want to spend some more time in the area afterwards on our own. So we're looking at spending some time in an extra country or two in January, but don't really know anything about the area at all. Soo feel free to share any experiences/knowledge and recommendations you have :D

  1. You could spend months just seeing things in C.R. like the Volcanos, Beaches on both coasts, Cloud Forests, Zip- Lineing, White water rafting, Hiking etc..  Of course your only a short ways to the Panama Canal so I would see it also.

  2. MMM i think you should try nicaragua... try going to see the volcanoes there are alot right there or also try the food is so good alot of people from here like it... also you should try going to the mall...

  3. i don't know if you'll be going that far, but I here venezuela has some of the best beaches in the world, and you'd be there when it's summer!

  4. I agree, there is plenty to do within Costa Rica itself.

  5. i agree about the venezuelan beaches. i spent a month there traveling throughout the country. visited an island beach called Puerta La Cruz. it was beautiful although a bit unnerving to have a soilder in uniform carrying a big gun! ha. when i was there the govn't was unstable and american/venezuelan relations not so well. not sure of the situation now...

also...im an american living in belize so i would def recommend this country. its beautiful. you can stick to the resort areas and do all the tours and cave tubbing, horseback riding, snorkeling, scuba...they have a great reef and "blue hole." and if you wonder into the towns, the people are friendly. english is widely spoken in this country along w/ spanish and creole.
