We would like somewhere with a tropical feel or something with exotic animals. Both would be nice

  1. Darwin, Australia is beautiful all year-round. There are rainforests as well as the Great Barrier Reef to check out. Trust me, I went on there last summer and it was the best experience of my life.

  2. I think you should brainstorm some ideas of places like that you've always wanted to see, and then choose the top two or so and make arrangements to go to both places.  If I had to choose only one though I'd go fo austrila.

  3. Another vote for Australia!

Darwin is an option definitely for the animals although for a honeymoon I would probably advise Cairns in North Queensland. You have access to some great resorts for relaxing but also there are heaps of Crocodile and other animal attractions. Not far up the road is a beautiful small town called Kuranda with a great sky rail. You can access the Great Barrier Reef. Cairns even does international flights.

  4. The Riveria Maya area of Mexico is tropical,  and many resorts are right on the edge of the jungle.  A friend recently went to one of the Iberostar resorts, and they were next to the jungle, with monkeys and parrots right on the property. It was beautiful, exotic, and not that far from the US!

Unfortunately, in September, you are risking hurricanes in this area - the chances are relatively small, but you should be aware of that possibility anywhere in the Caribbean in the fall.
