Question:

Where should we stay in Aruba with a toddler?

We loved Aruba when we went for our honeymoon and now we would like to return with our 3-year-old. He is generally content and well-behaved, but I would like to stay somewhere fairly upscale yet child-friendly. A place with a kiddie-pool that has some small slides, nicely appointed rooms with good linens and marble baths, great restaurants that are also kid-friendly but don't dumb down the food... Any recommendations?

  1. You might want to check TripAdvisor.com.  You can read opinions from past guests there.

If I were traveling with a three-year-old, I'd think about renting a condo or apartment, so I'd have a kitchen and possibly a separate bedroom.  That way you can have snacks and drinks and maybe lunch on hand and also have some privacy.

HomeAway.com has listings of apts/condos all over the world.

  2. The Marriott is also good.  La Cabana is good for kids, but that's why I would never stay there.

  3. The raddison is a great place to stay when we were younger we use to stay there with my children but now that they are teenagers we stay at the rui.

  4. The Holiday Inn SunSpree might fit the bill.

  5. We just got back from getting married in Aruba and have a 14 month old. We stayed at the Radisson and LOVED it! We liked the pool because it's one that starts off very shallow and gradually gets deeper, so she was able to walk around and explore half the pool on her own, there are also some bubblers in the water. There is a little kiddie park there too and one other thing she loved is the birds in the lobby. They have all these parrots that they bring out and you can get your picture taken with them. She loved watching them!

The rooms are great and she loved taking a bath in the big marble tub (almost like a pool for her!) we did have a suite though, so not sure what the reg rooms were like. They gave us a great crib to use and a mini fridge for her milk and yogart.

It was in walking distance of many restaurants (including mcdonalds...which we didn't eat at!) But there is Salt and Pepper and they had great food for the adults and we got her chicken strips and it came with fries and apple sauce. Close by there is also a pizza place and italian restaurants and other great places to eat! They had a great kids menu at Gilligans as well (Radisson's pool bar)

Hope this helps. We looked at Hyatt and Marriott too, and they do have a kids club, but I want to say the kids have to be at least 5 to attend. We will definitely return to the Radisson.
