Where should we stay in St. Thomas?

1. We want a hotel that is on the beach, with a good view and close to the ferry.

2. Are there any hotels that are walking distance to major points of interest (so that we don't have to rent a car)? If we have to rent a car anyway, the location of the hotel is not as important.

  1. If you are talking about the Red Hook ferry, then I would suggest you stay at Secret Harbour Beach Resort. Here is a link. Great beach right on property. Good snorkeling. Condo type resort.

Walking on St Thomas is not that safe. Between tourists driving on the left and the curvy hills, I would not walk to far. You can take the local VI shuttle bus or a cab, if you don't want to drive.

Check out the map on Secret harbour site and you will get an idea where you are and how far you are from the major points of interest.

    good luck and enjoy.)

  2. No Where, come to St Croix.

  3. We went there on our honeymoon, we stayed at Bluebeard's castle downtown, they were not very helpful (but most of them are not) and its up a HUGE HUGE hill, so if you are walking it HUGE!  Taxis are VERY expensive, its cheaper to rent a car.  If your hotel was on the other side of the island it will cost $20 each way and each person.  The hotel was nice and a plus was right next to downtown.  Don't do the Holiday Inn, Red Hook Mountain Apt is close to the ferry, but even if it is .5 miles it could take 20 min to get there.  Remember to great everyone "Good day" and ask them how they are or they will be very rude.  And do the Breakaway boat going to the Virgin Islands, Awesome!
