We just finished painting in the apt and there are some left over we don't need any more. Where should we throw these away? Should we do certain things before we throw them away?

  1. If you have an outdoor place to keep them, leave the lids off and let them dry out, then throw away.  Or is there is alot left in the buckets, see if you can donate it to a community art program or something.   Also, try to keep a small jar of the paint you used in case you need to touch up a scratch or stain or something.  Some thing the size of a baby food jar is good, then you can just use a q-tip to touch up with.  You might also call the city to see if they have a hazardous waste disposal site, or just call the apartment manager to see what the standard answer is for your unit.

  2. It depends how much left you have. If it's alot, then keep it, coz you might need to do patching jobs over the years.

If it's not alot, paint some scrap newspaper with it and then just toss it in the bin.

ps- DON"T POUR IT DOWN THE DRAIN!!

  3. You can't throw away liquid paint.  You can throw away dry paint.

You could just leave it somewhere with the lid off, but this takes quite a long time.  What happens if something knocks it over?

Get some cheap kitty litter or oil absorber and mix it with the paint.  This will form a solid mass that you can put in the trash without any problem.

  4. pour it in the gutter
