  4. The best theory of chess' origins is; most likely developed by India spreading to Arabia & China and finally to Europe. Archeologist believe it came to Europe sometime close to the fall of Rome (perhaps like 500AD to 600AD). Archeologist have found chess pieces belonging to the Vikings (circa 700's AD).

    Ruy Lopez wrote his famous chess book in the 1400's analyzing the single most popular opening of his day, which holds it popularity even today.(the Spanish game)
