  1. There still are Dogon in Africa. They live in caves in the face of a long cliff.

  2. Remember that we all originated from Africa.

  3. Was it a documentary or an old movie?

Was it set in Europe or Africa?

Black Cavemen...probably not in Europe but there would have been dark skinned people using cave shelters in other areas?!

  4. To my knowledge, no anthropoligist has documented "black" cavemen.

Biblical accounts do document "dark-skinned" people. The Moors were dark skinned, as were the Egyptians.

  5. YES.! Are Kidding.?! Along With Black Santa, Black Leprechauns, And Black Taco Bell Workers.!

People Need To Stop Being So Racist.!

    :D

  6. The Homo Erectus (caveman) that migrated out of Africa was black. Skin color is based on exposure to sun and need to absorb vitamin D. Most likely, the cavemen on TV were in Europe where fully black skin wouldn't be found uless they are recent immigrants.

"Before the mass global migrations of people during the last 500 years, dark skin color was mostly concentrated in the southern hemisphere near the equator and light color progressively increased further away, as illustrated in the map below. In fact, the majority of dark pigmented people lived within 20° of the equator. Most of the lighter pigmented people lived in the northern hemisphere north of 20° latitude."

  7. There was no such thing as a cave man.  Man didn't live in caves in the first place.  The only reason people believe that man may have lived in caves was because of the large amounts of bones and pots that were found in or around caves.  Living in a cave would have been very very very unhealthy and would have lead to an outbreak in diseases and death.  While they do find large deposits of "findings" in and around caves, its believed that the reason for this is because man would use the caves as temporary shelters from the weather.  There also just wasn't enough caves in the world or in the locations where human remains were found to safely assume that man lived in caves.  But to answer your question, it would be impossible to know for sure what race the people who lived during the time you are asking about were.  While today we can determine the race of an individual based on certain physical traits of a skull it would be hard to apply those same rules to the skulls of prehistoric man.  we can't assume those same rules that we have today would apply (e.g. the size of the nasal passage, the width of the jaw bone or the degree of the prognathism).  But the notion of a "cave man" is false and should be stricken from the lexicon of every person in the world and they should stop teaching it to our kids in the schools.

  8. Icabod has the correct answer.  It can't be documented because our skin is the first thing to deteriorate upon death.  All cavemen have white bones and white skulls; thus color can't be exactly determined.

  9. The problem is that caves were for shelter for bad weather and in Africa where it is warm, it wasn't as important.  Europeans spent more time in caves during the winter whereas in Africa it was more for storage or hiding and not really an asset. Since Europeans spent more time in caves they did things like put drawings on the walls making caves in Europe worth talking about.

  10. i dont know.. i also wondered where they were in the medeival era..?

  11. You know, that is really weird. I have never seen any pictures with black cavemen. I think that is really odd,but never thought about it until now. I think there had to be.

  12. There weren't really any "cave" men.  People used caves but they were only used sparingly.  It is a place conducive to preserving fossils and they are generally not too deeply buried.  This is where the term cave man came from.  There were certainly dark skinned people living in the tropics while light skinned ones may have been trying to survive in the colder climes.

  13. Most likely there was. The color of skin is determined by where people live. It is called "skin adapatation".
