Question:

Where to Install Cable/Signal Booster/Amplifier?

The cable comes into my home outside-it is split 4 times- 1 of the splits is a daisy chain to another splitter. My cable comes off the daisy chain into another splitter into a female adapter to connect two cables and then there is one more 2way splitter before it gets to my TV jack. I live in an apartment connected to the house and the last two connections are in the ceiling so there's nothing I can do. Where should I install the booster and what can I do!

  1. Am I reading this correctly, that you go through four splitters to get to your TV? That is WAAAAYYYY too many. As you said, there is little that you can do.

Since it isn't your home, you will have to talk to the landlord. If I were him, I would put the amp as close to where it comes into the house as possible. That will have the added effect of giving everyone a boost.

You can get amps that have a splitter built in. Perhaps to replace that first four way. I would ask the cable company too. Sometimes they will put one in for free. The ones they use here are extremely high quality.

I would get the best quality that I can find. Radio shack is one of the last places that I would look, but who knows what they might have now.

  2. JUST BEFORE IT GETS TO YOUR TV .
