I want to write a book that is sort of law and order style. there would be a crime investigation and court to go along with it. Now, im not too sure of a plot so i want to learn about real crimes and court cases that have occured. I do not want to read mystery and crime books that authors have written as fiction because me basing my book off of that would be copyright infringement. But i can legally base my plot off of something that has really happened. Where i could i read these things. Any books that you suggest? any websites? i am probablly going to go to the library to get the books, no sense spending a bunch of money. where would i look in the library, what section? any help would be highly appreciated. thank-you.

  1. http://www.trutv.com/library/crime/

Crime Library has just about every crime you could shake a stick at, some high profile, some not. The style of writing is a bit sensational, but the articles are still packed with information. It's my instant go-to for any true crime case. I hope this helps!

  2. For you library search, I would suggest going to the non-fiction section and there may be some categories like Law or Crime. Asking a librarian would also be a smart thing to do. =]
