Where to Mudlark along Thames in London?

I've never been to London before, and I am interested in the practice of mudlarking since I'm very into history. Where are places along the Thames in London to get access to the "beach" during low tide, and how do I find out when low tides will be? Also, I have heard you have to get a permit to use a metal detector and actually dig in the mud.....can an American obtain this permit? If so, how? Thanks!

  1. idk

  2. I heard on the radio the other day that you can get access to the muddy beach where the amphibious vehicle that takes tourists for a trip on the river goes into the water ... this website says they enter the water from the slipway at Vauxhall

so I would say go to Vauxhall Bridge and watch out for the bright yellow Ducks going into the water

you can get tide tables here

the nearest point would be London Bridge

as to the metal detector, sorry I have no idea
