  1. If you are looking for used, you have to be open to many different types or be prepared to wait a while.  However, you can get some good deals.

If you have a section of www.craigslist.org in your area, you can set up a rss to email link (I don't remember the web site I used but you can do a web search for it) to mail you with new items when they show up.

You can search on ebay and set a distance limit.  I ended up buying a kayak that way last year.

Check if there are rental places in your area.  They occasionally sell off older equipment.

Check for kayak clubs.  They may know of used equipment sources.

Some outdoor stores allow people to advertise used equipment or have swap meets, ask around.

  2. lacompras.com has kayaks & gear to get started.

  3. Where do you live? Find the nearest canoe/kayak group; they will have boats to sell. Re-think your specifications. Do you want a sea-kayak? Maybe a few lessons will help. Try your library for a book of 'how to kayak'.

  4. i would check out e-bay or sams club or the academy these places  are a great place to start at sams some times you can get one for around three hundred bucks  i have bought a couple of boats from a web site call boater talk there is a gear swap there and you can get one cheap and maybe if you live close somebody there will let you try out a boat.
