Where to buy a house in Sydney?

Hi. I have been transferred from Adelaide to Sydney. I want to buy a house in Sydney but I am not sure where to buy. I am working in the CBD so access to public transport is a must. I have two labradors so I need a free standing house with a little bit of yard for the dogs. Needs to be at least 3 bedrooms and would prefer something newish. Budget is $500000 max. Where would be a good place to buy?

  1. Hey, I saw your post- I'm a realtor in NC so I thought I would offer my help.

Coldwell Banker (the company I work for) has the largest relocation department in the entire United States and we are able to find top agents for clients world-wide (no matter where they are currently living or where they are planning to move).  If you want to e-mail me, I would be more than happy to refer you to a wonderful agent in your area that will be able to walk you through every step of the way!  Coldwell Banker's relocation department prides itself in making every client's home purchase as easy and as smooth as possible and only the area's best agents are referred!  Send me an e-mail, and I would be happy to tell you more! (Did I mention that this service is free to you? :)

  2. It's a pretty big decision to buy a house when you don't know the area at all, you might be best to rent for a few months while you make up your mind where you want to live.

For $500,000, you're not going to find too many free standing houses near the city (if any). You might find some nice places in parts of the HIlls District however the transport isn't that great there (mainly buses although they do have lot of city services). You probably could also buy in the west or the south but make sure you're buying into a safe suburb. Maybe do a bit of research and ask more specific questions again on Answers.
