Where to buy electric violin?

My 13 year old daughter has been playing violin for 4 years and loves the electric violin. She plays all the time and is involved in summer music camp as well as classes throughout the year. I am interested in getting her an electric violin. I do not want to spend a great deal of money and I see that they range from $90.00 upwards of $5,000.00. I cannot find comments on the inexpensive violins so I have no way of juding them. I do not want a toy, but as I said, I do not want to spend a lot either, she's not a professional.

Help. Websites? Personal reviews? etc.

  1. there are a lo of store that you cab buy one from for example you could go to Sharmusic.com

they have specialized employees that can help you choose the right ones.

    There is a also samash.com.

The have a couple of electric violin that are pretty cheap.

I would recommend maybe looking up mark wood he is an electric violinist and he designs his own violin I'm sure your daughter would love the designs. Those kind are not expensive the can have cheap ones at the budget that you are in.

  2. DON'T GET A YAMAHA ELECTRIC VIOLIN!

OR A RAVE.. or whatever shar sells.

    http://www.woodviolins.com/html/stingray...

^thats an awesome "entry" level electric violin.  Its based on one of their popular instruments.

and its runs for 799 dollars USD....

if she chooses to go through with it, they make custom instruments (beware, they get expensive. the one i want was 4,395 as of december 07) that are commonly used by professionals.

    zeta is ok....

but I'm going to be a bit biased, as I am i'm apart of the wood violin message board.

    www.woodviolins.com/wvmb

you can join and they'll give you comments on electric violins.. they're going to be biased towards Wood violins though...

  3. There are several places to look for electric violins.  You can go online and look at: South West Strings (swstrings.com) -They have amazing customer service, call them if you have any questions about instruments (800) 528-3430

    -  or http://www.electricviolinshop.com/yamaha... part of yamaha.  This website from yamaha describes the types of electric violins they sell.  I am a violinist and I play the electric and acoustic violin.  From my expierence, the best electric instument for the money is the Yamaha silent violin.

You may also want to look at getting a five string instrument. http://www.electricviolinshop.com/catalo...

I bought a four string and I regret it.  It has a C string as well as the normal violin strings.  It will last your child longer, so the extra money may be worth it.

You can also go to shar music.  It also has the yamaha silent violins and others as well.  http://www.sharmusic.com/electricviolins...
