If you would like to have cost effective but with quality, you can try at the shops in Vadapalani at 100 feet road signal.   As well as, there are few shops in pondybazar like Rathna stores, Viveks, Sikanam, etc.

If you would like to go in for quality irrespective of price, then there lot of furniture shops like Gautier Furniture, Face Furniture galary, Modfurn, Furniture town, etc.

There are plenty of locations from which you can buy quality computer chairs. Most of these stores have computer chairs of different varieties from basic models to high end models.

Some of the showrooms that strike my mind immediately are:

LuLu in Koyambedu (just before the Koyambedu Roundtana)

Nitraa in 100 Feet Road (Vadapalani)

Polo Chairs in Teynampet (near the Congress grounds, before the Gemini Flyover)

Then if you feel you have couple of days to choose the chair, go to Royapettah or AnnaNagar. In AnnaNagar, near the Ayyappan temple you have lot of showrooms. Infact for our office we bought from one of the showrooms close to the temple. It has been cost effective and very good. Similarly in 100 FT road you have numerous shops near the Vadapalani Signal.
